Christopher Perrins

I painted my first icon in 2005 and subsequently did Diploma in Icon and Wall Painting at the Princes School of Traditional Arts. The materials used for both icons are gold leaf for the ground, egg tempera paint for the figures on gesso on wooden board. The icon of the Seven Holy Martyrs was commissioned by the Companions of the Melanesian  Brotherhood for Chester Cathedral. The Icon of St Paul was commissioned by a Church Primary School as a retirement present for its Parish Priest.

From the Church Times (May 2018):

The Rev’d Christopher Perrins – who leads retreats at Rydal Hall in Cumbria and Foxhill House in Cheshire – is keen to ensure that his retreats are accessible to people who have never painted before, as well the more experienced. “We tend to start with the easiest method, the proplasmos technique, which is more associated with the Greek tradition, where you begin with the darker colours, layering the paint until you get to the lightest colours”.
